Teachers, education and coffee grinder

The word ‘education’ can have either a broad or a technical meaning, depending on the context in which it is used.  In the broad sense, education is any experience that has a noticeable and formative effect on a person – in either a mental, emotional or physical sense.  In the technical sense, education refers to the specific systems and institutions that transmit knowledge from one generation or level of expertise to another.  Technical education systems are similar throughout the world, however there  are some differences with regards to the ages when, and the processes whereby students are taught specific information.

Teaching is the profession which is involved with the education of students, and normally teachers specialise in a particular subject matter of a certain age group.  Teaching is known as a profession that can have its challenges, and teachers can often be seen in school staff rooms operating a coffee grinder and getting themselves energised for their next shift.  Most nations split up their education system into a number of different levels – primary, secondary and tertiary.  There are some differences with regard to the ages that students graduate from one level to another, with some schools in America also implementing a middle school system between the primary and secondary levels.

As education becomes increasingly international, the small differences like those between the nations of Germany and France are becoming even smaller.  Some nations do have specific problems however;  with India recently developing an education satellite system as a way to reach more of their rural countryside at a cheaper cost, and programs in Africa attempting to bring inexpensive laptops to children.  No matter what the exact education setup is in a specific country, there is one thing that we know for certain.  All around the world there are school and university staff rooms filled with hard working and dedicated teachers brewing coffee beans and making coffee as a way to relax and focus their energies.
